The main responsibilities for this position will be, but not limited to:
- Plan, co-ordinate and control all blasting activities
- Calculate explosives and accessories required per blast
- Ordering of explosives in relation to blast holes
- Blasting of burdens and coal
- Hot hole blasting
- Closing in and safe making of the blast area
- Compile and submit blasting reports on time
- Maintain discipline and control over the crew
You will need:
- Grade 11 – Math, Science and English Language
- Valid Blasting Certificate for Opencast Coal Mining is essential
- Minimum 2 years appointed as a Blasting Assistant/Mining Operators/Assistant
- Good understanding of blasting processes and procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and variable workload
- Solid knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act
