ESG Coordinator – Midrand (Head Office)

Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for an ESG Coordinator at our Head Office in Midrand. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation, monitoring and improvement of initiatives that promotes ESG both internally and externally. Responsible for the coordination, facilitation and management of the ESG systems.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science/ Business Administration
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience in area of sustainability practices in administration or program coordination


  • Experience within the corporate environment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and consolidate information in preparation for the groups sustainability report
  • Liaise and coordinate the gathering of ESG data from internal and external stakeholders
  • Work together with both internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement and improve ESG systems to support the implementation of the ESG programme
  • Ensure the implementation of ESG action plans by following up with the relevant stakeholders
  • Schedule and coordinate the ESG committee meetings, document minutes of the meeting
  • Support the implement of program policies and practices and keep the program on schedule
  • Facilitate the collaboration of interdepartmental teams and work groups on ESG initiatives and programmes
  • Lead the coordination of the ESG engagement activities and awareness campaigns

  • Establish and maintain an ESG database
  • Ensure updated ESG policies are accessible on the company Intranet
  • Develop and administer and regularly update ESG policies and programmes
  • Provide input and ideas for new data collection methods, process improvements and quality initiatives
  • Ensure that systems are in place to facilitate with the on time reporting
  • Plan for and coordinate non-financial assurance process timeously
  • Assist with the preparation of the Bi-Annual ESG Report
  • Monitor and record stakeholder feedback
  • Administer the compilation and publication of the annual sustainability report
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Health and Safety Regulations



  • Demonstrate understanding of programme coordination and management
  • Effectively manages multiple assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfilment of projects, tasks, responsibilities, and goals
  • Excellent writing and communication skills – various levels and departments within the organisation
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that initiative, timeliness, and completeness of gathering information to resolve stakeholder requirements through the work order process
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize needs. Proven interpersonal skills and be able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity

  • Capacity to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality documents at short notice. Possess energy, drive, enthusiasm, commitment and passion for high-quality work
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities issued by multiple bodies of power and influence. Willingness to work across multiple disciplines to drive the market towards more sustainable development
  • Must be dependable, a good team player and able to work independently as well as can learn quickly and expand the scope of functions
  • Demonstrates leadership in the coordination of complex projects
  • Ability to define goals, performance metrics, and a long-term plan
  • Performs professional, technical, innovative and analytical work
