Group Occupational Therapist Manager

Job Description

Faircape Health, a division of the Faircape Group, owns and manages six luxury lifestyle villages with state of the art and technologically advanced Healthcare Centres at each village.i

Clinical evidence shows that treatment outcomes are best when treatment is administered by a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) incorporating a variety of practitioners. At Faircape Health, we bring together healthcare professionals from different fields to collaborate on treatment plans for optimal clinical outcomes. 

Each village has a dedicated Occupational Therapist who promotes independence with dignity and compassion with activity-based methodology and we are seeking an experienced Group Occupational Therapist Manager to oversee the Occupational Therapy at all 6 retirement villages.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Department Management:

  • Managing 6 Occupational Therapists & 5 Activity Assistants that work at our various retirement villages and a Pet Manager
  • Planning and facilitating internal training for staff members 
  • Daily meetings with staff members to provide accurate feedback regarding performance and monitoring their KPIs 
  • Creating, reviewing and updating of policies and procedures when necessary
  • Oversee the relevant staffs workflows and ensuring that it is adhered to 
  • Collaborating and building relationships with various universities to provide opportunities to occupational therapy students 

  • Maintain occupational therapist students calendars and travel reimbursement expenditure
  • Monitor and manage special events expenditures and ensure that everything stays within budget
  • Attending and participating in MDT meetings on a monthly basis
  • Provide input on any orders placed regarding assistive devices 
  • Ensuring that quality activities are provided to all residents 
  • Provide service improvement recommendations 

Risk Management 

  • Investigate, review and monitoring fall incidents within our long-term healthcare centres
  • Maintenance of Fall Prevention & Management Procedure and other relevant policies and procedures
  • Provide staff education regarding risk management
  • Compile Healthcare centre incident registers
  • Provide input into other Healthcare residents incidents investigations to identify preventative strategies or procedural changes

Healthcare Training Coordinator 

  • Compile and maintain Healthcare centre staff training plan
  • Create self-study content & quizzes for the nursing, occupational therapy & social work to use 
  • Create training content based on needs identified in MDT meetings or from incidents investigations 
  • Attend/participate/present Healthcare centre Journal Clubs
  • Keep records of internal training according to procedure

Qualifications 

  • Degree in OT and registered as an OT with HPCSA

Experience:

  • Proven experience in clinical Occupational Therapy
  • Experience in long-term care setting

Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of OT process in Geriatrics
  • Knowledge of OT role in Geriatrics and mental health
  • Knowledge of the long-term care sector in SA
  • Computer skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership & interpersonal skill
  • Time management & organisational skills

Specific Requirements:

Working Hours – Normal working days are Mondays to Fridays from 07h00 until 16h00, 07h30 until 16h30 or 08h00 until 17h00.

We are offering a salary starting from R 45 000 Cost to Company per month depending on experience.The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors.
